MAP is a nomadic, independent & not-for-profit producing company with strong ties and deep roots in the Seattle community. We favor local work and comedy that hurts a bit. We find strength and satisfaction in a highly collaborative process with everyone at the table, but we aren't self-generators - we prefer to interpret others' words & worlds. We like to discuss and debate with abandon and yet still be friends when we go home afterwards.
MAP's goal is – above all – always to laugh and have fun, meet new friends, greet old friends, and continuously push the boundaries of what traditional “theatre” is and bust the stereotypes of who “theatre” is for. It’s for the people, my friends. No fooling.
Brandon Ryan (Poppa MAP) was previously the
co-founder and artistic director of the award winning fringe theatre
company, Absurd Reality Theatre (NW Source Best Local Fringe Theatre
Company in 2006 and 2007). Their production of Guardians was
recognized by The Sunbreak as “one of the most unforgettable plays of
the year” of 2008. Ryan is also a prolific and talented actor
(Members’ Voice choice as nominee for Outstanding Actor for the
inaugural Gregory Awards in 2009 produced by Theatre Puget Sound; 2009
Seattle Times Footlight Awards for Bravura Acting).
Peggy Gannon (Momma MAP) has
been a theatre artist in Seattle for 18 years as an actor, director
and producer. She co-founded and was the Managing Director &
co-Artistic Director of the popular and critically acclaimed sketch
group Bald Faced Lie (BFL) from 1995-2005, recognized nationally and
internationally. From 2003-2009, Gannon was on the producing steering
committee of 14/48: The World’s Quickest Theatre Festival (now in its
12th year). She was the recipient in summer of 2010 of the 14/48 Mazen
Award, rewarded to veteran participants of 14/48 for their
contribution to the spirit of risk taking and camaraderie.
